Shopping! The boat's first Christmas

The Sea Dragon is the lucky lady of the party this year. Her presents inlude new diesel hoses, black water hoses, re-furbished sails, new marleon ball valves, clean bunks, and a 5000W power inverter. She also get her very own Rotary Hammer and Tap Drill to clean rust off her bits. (what woman wouldn't want a tap drill in their stocking;) We will be installing a Seagull freshwater purifier for the tap as an extreme measure to ensure sweet water on demand. The Sea Dragon will also get a new glean in her eye when we install the new LED green/white Alpenglow light fixtures. With these new lights, and LED replacements through-out, she will be a softly lit energy efficient eco-machine. Her new SailRite sewing machine will continue to keep the old girl going during the expedition, along with sunshades, buckets, bed covers, etc...

Look forward to new lessons in humility as we install all these parts on the Sea Dragon, Jan 27th-Feb 8th, 2009

Delivering SV Sea Dragon via Alderney

There we were, in the middles of the English channel; when the day-fuel tank pump broke down! The point of no return, half way across with unknown resources to fix the pump in the Isles; or returning to Lymington and abort the mission....MAYBE not so dramatic as that, as we found a replacement kit for the pump, cleaned out the fuel filter, and were on our way. The sky was blue and the seas were rolling, great day to cross the channel. A very quick exploration of Alderney's war history, and we were off for Lymington again. The vessel successfully delivered back to England, good English ale all around, we cleaned the boat as best we could and heading off to the airport, heads filled with idea's of refitting the Sea Dragon for future expeditions of exploring, learning, and communicating.
